Mary Faithorn Scott Architecture
My client’s goal was to brighten and open their kitchen, dining, and family room area. The entire renovation was within the existing footprint of the house — a 1950s split-level home, with a screen porch and two level basement.
My client has a keen eye for design and selected contemporary cabinets and countertops that transformed a dated interior. We removed the wall between the kitchen and dining room, and enclosed the screen porch to create the family room.
A new wood floor tied together the kitchen, dining, and family rooms. A vaulted ceiling and skylights brought more natural light to the new space overall, while area rugs articulated each distinct room.
A half level down, we converted the room off the driveway to a welcoming mudroom and crafts area. At the basement level, we renovated the basement as a functional living space and full bath.
