Mount Kisco Transitional

My clients wanted an open area conducive for their family of five to gather to eat, watch TV, and grill on the deck.

To do this we removed the first floor bedroom to expand the kitchen and open it to the family room and deck.

The owners drove many of the interesting design decisions on this project. One example is the lower table area of the kitchen’s island, allowing the family to sit down to dinner on chairs rather than stools.

Another example grew from the owners’ ritual of building warm fires on cold winter nights. We included a wood storage niche close to the fireplace with a back hatch so that the owners could easily replenish firewood from outside the home.
